Are you ready to shine? The Star Search Talent Competition at Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre is your chance to showcase your singing or dancing skills and compete for amazing prizes. Whether you’re a solo performer or part of a group, this is your moment to take the stage!
Complete the official registration form before the deadline.
Ensure all details are accurate. Incorrect information may lead to disqualification.
If you’re under 18, parental or guardian consent is required.
Submit your entry on time – late entries will not be accepted.
Elimination Rounds: Contestants will compete on May 3, 10, and 17, 2025. The best performers will advance to the final.
Final Event: The top contestants will battle it out on May 24, 2025, to claim the title and prizes.
Performance Rules:
Singing acts: 2-3 minutes.
Dancing acts: 3-4 minutes.
Contestants must bring their own backing tracks (USB or email submission).
Offensive content, inappropriate clothing, and dangerous acts are not allowed.
Arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled time to avoid disqualification.
Singing: Vocal ability, stage presence, song choice, and overall performance.
Dancing: Technique, creativity, stage presence, and impact.
Judges’ decisions are final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
Entry into the competition is free.
Contestants are responsible for their own expenses, including transport and attire.

For the 1st place winner, there will also be Media Exposure – Interviews, social media features through the Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre social media platform and by entering this competition you irrevocably consent thereto.
By entering, participants consent to being photographed and recorded for promotional use.
Footage may be used across social media, websites, and press releases.
No compensation will be provided for media appearances.
By entering, all participants (and their guardians if under 18) confirm they have read, understood, and agree to the competition terms and conditions.

24 May 2025: Final event. Time: 8:00 – 14:00 – Elimination round. 14:00 – 20:00 – Final Event.
1. Eligibility
1.1. The competition is open to individuals and groups in the following age categories:
Kids (6+ years – Adults (18+ years).
In case of the contestant being under the age of 18, then both the contestant and parents and / or legal guardians give consent to the contestant entering this competition.
1.2. Contestants may enter in one of the following performance categories:
Singing (Solo/Group)
Dancing (Solo/Group)
1.3. Groups must have no more than 6 members.
1.4. Employees of Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre, Tenants, event sponsors and their immediate family members are not eligible to participate.
2. Entry & Registration
2.1. All contestants must complete the official registration form before the deadline.
2.2. Participants under 18 years must have parental or guardian consent to participate.
2.3. Entries must be submitted with correct details. False information may result in disqualification.
2.4. No late entries will be accepted.
3. Performance Rules
3.1. Performance time limits:
Singing: 2-3 minutes
Dancing: 3-4 minutes
3.2. Contestants must bring their own backing tracks (on USB format or email submission).
3.3. Explicit lyrics, offensive gestures, inappropriate clothing, content or political allusions are strictly prohibited.
3.4. Dangerous acts involving fire, weapons, or hazardous props are not allowed.
3.5. Contestants must be present and be ready to perform 30 minutes before their scheduled time.
3.6. Failure to arrive on time may result in disqualification.
4. Judging & Prizes
4.1. Contestants will be judged based on:
Singing: Vocal ability, stage presence, song choice, overall performance.
Dancing: Technique, creativity, stage presence, impact.
4.2. The judges’ decision is final and cannot be disputed and no correspondence will be entered into.
4.3. Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre reserves the right to vary the nature of the competition, the prize, or these terms and conditions upon notice in this regard being published on [>insert website address<] or in another appropriate medium.
5. Media & Publicity
5.1. By participating, contestants agree to be photographed and recorded for promotional use on social media, websites, and press releases.
5.2. Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre and its partners reserve the right to use any footage and contestant names and details for marketing and promotional purposes without any compensation being payable.
6. Safety & Liability
6.1. Subject to the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act, you indemnify the Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre, its employees, agents, shareholders and directors (“affiliates”) against all claims for any loss or damages, whether direct, indirect, consequential or otherwise, arising from any cause whatsoever in connection with your entry into the competition, including any theft, loss or damage to any property of the contestant.
6.2. Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre and its affiliates will also not be liable for any loss or damage, whether direct, indirect, consequential, or otherwise, arising from any network failure, or interruptions during any performance.
6.3. Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre and its affiliates will not be responsible for any costs or expenses which you incur during and for purposes of your entry into the competition and your acceptance and/or use of a prize.
6.4. Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre shall not be liable for any private photographs of footage taken by members of the public attending the event or the sharing thereof on social media.
6.5. Participants must conduct themselves in a safe and respectful manner at all times.
6.6. Any damage to event property caused by a contestant will be the responsibility of the contestant or their parent and/or guardian as the case may be.
Disqualification
7.1 Contestants may be disqualified for:
Using explicit lyrics, offensive gestures, inappropriate clothing, content or political allusions.
Failing to follow event rules and instructions.
Breaching any of these terms and conditions
Engaging in disruptive or inappropriate behaviour.
Agreement & Consent
8.1. By registering for the Star Search Talent Competition, participants and parents and/or guardians (if applicable) confirm that they have read, understood, and agree to these terms and conditions.
By entering this competition the contestants, and, if applicable, the contestant parents and/or guardian consents to it personal information being processed. The personal information provided by entrants will be used solely for the purposes of administering the competition and will not be shared with third parties. Contestants will have the right to access and rectify their personal information.
These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of South Africa and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa.
